FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will the speed of my network go down if I use ADSL Broadband?

A. No if anything it will increase! because if you have say a 256Kb/sec IPClear line you will send and receive data at a maximum of 256Kb/sec but if you have ADSL max (8Mb/sec) you will almost certainly get 8Mb/sec* one way and around 800Kb/sec* or more the other and at a fraction of the costs.

Q. Is ADSL Broadband reliable?

A. We have had customers running their whole infrastructure on ADSL Broadband for many years and have had very very little problems apart from a telephone engineer or workman cutting a line by mistake or an overzealous accountant noticing that there are no call charges on a particular line and ceasing it.

Q. How long does it take to get the network and lines etc transferred?

A. A lot will depend on what you have now and the complexity of your network/communications but it's true to say that a 3 - 5 site group or company can be completed in about 4 - 6 weeks from date of orders being placed.

Q. Will this mean more work for my IT staff?

A. No your IT staff will obviously be encouraged to take part in the installation as they will need to have an idea of how it is all going to work and being involved is probably the best type of training.

Q. Will I be able to reduce my IT staffing costs?

A. Yes, a lot of our customers have totally removed their IT staff and use RDS for ALL IT requirements. We're not just talking about companies with one or two sites we have companies with sites ranging from 5 to 22 site who have no IT staff of their own.

* These figures are subject to local exchange and network conditions/restrictions/availability. On average you can expect to receive between 4-6mb with many areas getting the full 8mb with 800kb up maximum
